Research - Case Study
I am analysing 'teen now' magazine and the target audience is obviously teenagers, hence the title. Also more likely so to be younger teenage girls just because of the instant feel you get of the magazine by the colours used. On the front cover of the magazine there are a variety of bold vibrant colours used, pinks, blues and yellows. These colours appeal to teenagers more than an older age group because they are fun and vibrant. The colours definitely make the magazine more visually exciting for a teenager. Also how many colours there are ads to the effect of excitement and making the magazine more appealing to teenagers. On the title 'teen now' the word teen is done in a bright bold pink colour this makes your eye go straight to the word so the reader automatically knows if the magazine will appeal to them. Also the word exclusive is highlighted in a flu recent yellow; i think this is because teenagers are always interested in reading exclusives about celebrities. There is a fashion section at the bottom right corner on the front cover this is also highlighted in bright yellow, because fashion is something majority of teenage girls are into so they will know by looking at the cover that there is fashion involved in the magazine.
The colours used on the inside of the magazine reflect the front cover, there are a lots of bold bright colours, however on some pages there are more dull bland colours like blues and greys. Also when you first open the magazine there is a double page spread and the main colours used are red, because there is no red on the cover or much throughout the magazine it automatically grabs the reader attention. Red is often used to symbolise stop so the reader knows it must be something important or interesting to read. The bright bold colours are used to atract the target audience wich is teenagers, the colours are fun and exciting to look at.
The main image is a close up of Nathan from the wanted's face.l want to buy the magazine becuase it obviously includes fetures on Conner maynard. There are photographs of one direction and Olly Murs other celebrities tgar lots of teenage girls like. The photographs are friendly and inviting, they all have smiles on thier faces, i would say this magazine's target audience is younger girls. The title is very relevant beacuse of the word teen. The target audience would be interested in the subtitles even just becuase of the photographs, it has the words 'WIN' and 'FREE' in bright pink this will atract the reader.
